Māpuna is not a typical consultancy.
We are Māori-led. Grounded in whakapapa. Backed by specialist expertise and a track record of real, lasting change.
Our co-directors — Dr Acushla Dee Sciascia (Ngāruahinerangi, Ngāti Ruanui, Te Āti Awa) and Tumarangai (Tu) Sciascia (Ngāti Kahungunu, Kāi Tahu) — bring over two decades of combined experience: research and strategy, wānanga facilitation, capability development, organisational transformation, and the genuine integration of Māori art, design and storytelling into public life.
They founded Māpuna for one reason - to work alongside organisations genuinely ready to shift the dial.
Our team is multi-disciplinary. Te reo Māori. Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Hands-on experience helping government agencies actually understand, embed and operationalise their obligations. Our research and strategy work is rigorous, culturally grounded, and built around what clients need that we acknowledge as having transformative impact on whānau.
We work across public and private sectors. Arts and culture. Urban design. Education. Community development. And most importantly, Mātauranga Māori and relationships sit at the centre of everything.
